Assassin's Creed Unity Companion is a puzzle game for Android devices. Players collect, train, and unlock assassins to send on missions. By completing missions, the player collects points used to unlock various rewards within the game. Unity Companion acts as a tie-in game to the main Unity story with a more minor plot. Hardcore fans of the series may want to pick this game up to experience everything in the Assassin's Creed universe.

A handful of different puzzles are available within the companion app. Before starting a mission, players can choose specific assassins to send out. Assassins gain experience during missions and level up with stronger stats. It's possible to see the layout of each puzzle before the mission starts. Once a given mission starts, players must solve individual puzzles as quickly but efficiently as possible for the best rewards.

Leveling up in the companion app feels somewhat rewarding. Assassin's with a higher level feature better stats, making certain puzzles easier to tackle. There's a wide variety of available assassin's, and unlocking them is somewhat quick. Virtually all of the rewards stay within the companion app. Unfortunately, nothing notable carries over into the main Unity game. Only a handful of rewards unlock due to progress in the companion app.

Without a doubt, the Assassin's Creed Unity Companion app is worth a few hours. Hardcore fans will pick the puzzle game up immediately. More casual fans may not find this type of companion app worth spending any time with. Luckily, Ubisoft made some changes to the main game ensuring the companion app isn't a mandatory download. Those not interested in this app won't miss much by choosing to skip a download.
